Thing 1: Facing My Fears

I'm doing it. I'm taking the plunge.

I'm a fairly new librarian just starting out in her second year. I have been wanting to become more invovled in my beloved profession. Why wait until your second year, you ask. Frankly, I'm nervous about creating on online presence. I don't know if I have a point of view or experiences that are worthwhile enough to share. I'm an appeaser and a joiner, which means I shy away from controversies and debates. If I'm not willing to take on meaty issues, can I say anything relevant?

But I'm also a list maker and a structure-lover. You say you have an organized program that will help me build skills and confidence to bring my professional work to the next level? Sign me up! (Did I mention that I'm a joiner?) I've been feeling the itch to get more involved and I think this is the right time to jump. Let's see where this goes...

  1. Hi Lizzy, your post reminded me of a blog entry I read yesterday by a seasoned blogger, Joeyanne: http://www.joeyanne.co.uk/2011/05/20/networking-for-introverts. Congrats on taking the plunge!
